We have reduced our environmental impact on this product
We have improved this product through various eco-design approaches depending on the origin of the yarn and place of production.
So, for this model, we employed 3 techniques: use of recycled polyester, dope dyeing and dry dyeing.
Our commitment to consume less water thanks to self-dyeing (black colour)
Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths.
To reduce our environmental impact, we use a mass pigmentation process that involves adding the colour pigments when the yarn itself is produced.
We have used this eco-design process for our black coloured shorts.
Our commitment to consume less water thanks to the so-called "dry dyed" technique (navy colour)
For this dyeing process, little water is used and it is carried out by a pressurised gas machine to set the colour directly on the fabric.
We use this eco-design approach for our navy-coloured shorts.
Why choose recycled polyester
By recycling plastic bottles and used textiles to produce our polyester, we reduce the use of petroleum-based resources while preserving the qualities and performance of the material.
We use this recycled polyester for the waistband inserts.

TESTS AND WARRANTY
Test product
Our Quechua global design centre is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie. This location means we can test our products in natural terrain.
These hiking shorts have been subjected to abrasion tests. Before being selected, the material of the shorts was tested in our Decathlon Sportslab laboratory; then, once designed, the shorts were worn with a loaded backpack for 10 hours of active walking.

These shorts were tested and approved in June 2020 by a group of female testers during a one-day hike, on a route leading them to the foot of the Arpenaz waterfall in Haute-Savoie.
In order to meet your requirements, Quechua products are tested in the wild in the conditions you encounter during your hikes.
Our teams, along with a panel of testers (made up of partners, ambassadors and customers), test the products throughout their development.
