These roller skates comply with EN 13899. What does the standard cover?
The EN 13899 European standard defines the rules for roller sports equipment and roller skates.
This standard specifies the safety requirements, specifications concerning test methods, markings, and information provided in order to reduce the risk of injury.
How do you replace worn parts?
Spare parts (54mm/32A wheels, ABEC 5 or ABEC 7 bearings) are available in-store and online.
We recommend regularly swapping the wheels around so that they wear evenly. The same for the brakes: By switching the left and right brakes, they will wear out more evenly and last for longer.
Since this is a JR (junior) product, you may look up your size in theSize Guide. If you do, you may end up ordering the wrong size: we needed to order a size EU40 and followed the kids chart, so ordered a 7.5... The skates we received were 7.5, but Women, which corresponds to EU38. Obviosuly, they were too small. So, just beware of looking at your size in the adult charts, not the kids one. Other than that, the skates look cute, but the wheels seem extremely stiff, and would not enable you to turn (even slightly) by desplacing your weigh (you'd actually have to move your skate to make a turn), unless maybe you untighten some bolts, which we would not have wanted to do, even it it had been the right size. Also, the boot is really stiff. Again, they may becomes less so with time, but you'll have to probably deal with some ankel discomfort in the meantime. So, not a bad pair, but really not a great one either. Most appropriate for kids with little to no experience probably. But Decathlon does have some great great products at very fair prices (we've been buying them for years in Europe). So happy they finally made it to the US. Hope they stay this time. Really like Deathlon, just did not love the skates, and really didn't like the size guide.
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Sooo starting with the boot... The boot is very steady and thick and firm sooo I really like the boot!
The skate is heavy and it could be difficult for kids!
Also take a size smaller than your shoe size cause that will help u with the fit!
Now the bad part!
The tires have zero to no grip sooo even skating on concrete has chances of falling and the boot is too heavy sooo lifting the foot is a workout on it own
Won't turn, rock hard cushions on trucks
Used for 3 to 6 months
Bought these for my 8 yr old daughter. She has now learnt to skate on them, but she can't corner by leaning. I loosened the cushions (bushings) but to no avail. I then removed the cushions to have a closer look, they are rock hard! There is no give in them at all!!! For a skate design for children (who weigh less) then you need soft cushions to allow the turn mechanism to function, I doubt these would even turn if an adult was using them. Apart from this gripe the skates have performed well. They seem durable and the wheels rotate smoothly.
